Engineering of green cementitious composites modified with siliceous fly ash: Understanding the importance of curing conditions

چکیده
Siliceous fly ash can be applied as a cement replacement material for mortars used in cement-based floor overlays. At present, there is no knowledge of the appropriate curing conditions that need to on concrete floors. Moreover, previous research related has left gaps which such floors are cured. This study focuses understanding importance typical overlays physical, chemical, mechanical, and microstructural properties siliceous ash-modified mortars. The results indicate have significant impact these (particularly long-term effects). Differences were observed between cured different conditions. In this research, we investigated volume porosity, water absorption, microstructure, hydration process, pore segmentation, strength composites had partially replaced with addition ash. It should noted use properly could lead better green cementitious composites.

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Effect of Curing Conditions on Strength of Fly ash-based Self-Compacting Geopolymer Concrete
This paper reports the results of an experimental work conducted to investigate the effect of curing conditions on the compressive strength of self-compacting geopolymer concrete prepared by using fly ash as base material and combination of sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate as alkaline activator. The experiments were conducted by varying the curing time and curing temperature in the range of...
متن کاملDesign of green engineered cementitious composites for pavement overlay applications
The construction, repair and rehabilitation of concrete pavements relies on the production and flow of large quantities of concrete and its constituents. Within the US, nearly 43 megatons of cement are used annually for the construction, repair and rehabilitation of concrete pavements, accounting for over 39 megatons of CO2 emissions. To reduce environmental impact and improve the sustainabilit...
متن کاملDelayed Ettringite Formation in Fly Ash Concrete under Moist Curing Conditions
During the hydration of cement, tricalcium aluminate (C3A) reacts with gypsum and forms ettringite (AFt). Once all gypsum is consumed, ettringite can further react with remaining C3A and form monosulfate (AFm) at 1–2 days. Normally, at early ages, ettringite all transfers to AFm phase. After several months or years, ettringite can form again if a new source of sulfate becomes available in the p...
متن کاملDevelopment of Green Engineered Cementitious Composites for Sustainable Infrastructure Systems
Over the last decade, enormous strides have been made in creating engineered cementitious composites (ECC) with extreme tensile ductility, on the order of several hundred times that of normal concrete or fiber reinforced concrete (FRC). Current ECC investigations include load carrying structural members in new infrastructure systems, as well as for repair and retrofitting of existing structures...
